last sunday, 18th jan I had gone to a wedding at the Taj Palace, one
of the most luxurious hotels in Delhi. Un Singh uncle's daugther was
getting married to a gujju boy. a very ABCD 2nd generation Indian
wedding. It was sure as lavish as it was chaotic and it had both the
Indian and the Christian traditions like the first dance.
The wedding and the Pheras were over in less than half an hour and the
bidai was done pretty quickly too. The reception followed the wedding
at the same venue.
UN Singh sent Dad an invite and Das said I would be there for the
wedding. So after the class on sunday , I got a call from indu aunty
asking me to be at dwarka in time to go for the wedding. I played
cricket as usual. didnt play well for what ever reason, took off early
and then came home to get ready.
became a good boy, removed my 2 day stubble. I had decided to wear a
simple shirt and trousers with formal shoes and the new sweater Dad
had sent. But then Mom and m sister insisted that I should go in a tie
and suit. The last time I was in a tie and suit was in betu bhaiya's
wedding almost 2 yrs ago !
I cant tell you surdy how much I missed you that time. if only you
were there to guide me about the clothes, I would never have had any
probs. I had such a problem in trying to check what shirt and trousers
would go right and which sweater to wear.
If only D was there with M to choose and select :'( that was the
thought in my mind that time and since then.
So finally rexona bhabhiji convinced me to wear it. suit and tie it
was. I didnt care about the cold or the weather or anything else. I
was sure quite uncomfy there in that attire since I am not used to
wearing it but still managed to do fine. interesting thing is that i
didnt know anyone but UN Singh Uncle and of course, kittu uncle, indu
aunty and rexona bhabhiji were with me.
There were quite a few good looking girls there, all dressed all
jhatak and daring but I dont think anyone would match D in colors and
style. D set the standard and the benchmark so high that now I cant
even come close to comparing anyone to her. I dont know if D still has
the same interest in clothes design and style as earlier. I wish that
she does have the same interest and now even more and one day she
starts her own boutique just like I had suggested once.
26th jan, 11:18am
I am watching the Republic Day parade. the weather is good for a
change and its bright and sunny outside. The marchpast and the
colorful tableaus are great. maybe some day I'll get a chance to go
there and see the parade first hand. D had a dear wish to walk
barefeet in the grass near India Gate holding my hand and us having
ice cream together. I hope her dream comes true with her husband when
ever they come to delhi.
I was in life style yday. mom and dad had bought me a sweater when
they were here for Dusherra, when i had the kidney stone problem. The
sweater was size XXL but still small for me ! so i had go and get it
changed. I have been lazy for some time now so havent gone and
exchanged it for a sweater of my size. Sweaters and Jackets have
always been a problem for me when it comes to size coz I need bigger
clothes especially at shoulders and in length. The arm's length is a
maojor problem for me wrt to sweaters.
It took some shouting and convincing at the life style counter to get
them moving and agreeing for the replacement. I have become extremely
short tempered and I abuse things and people left and right at times.
Really becoming a short fuse blockbuster bomb. I had a fight with my
parents too when i was in the shop and I asked them to relax and let
me do what I wanted to do.
Finally, the life stle people gave me a crdit note of 1495 for
anything i wanted to buy. I took the next 2 hrs or so to search for
something for myself. I used to hate buying clothes for myself and it
was D who taught me colors and style, and I always used to tell her
that if she went away I would be at sea without any help or support.
and I would probably never ever be able to shop again with anyone
else. I dont know what or how is that going to change now. I missed
her so much when it came to choosing between sweaters, jackets, shirts
and trousers. finally I selected something about repeatd trials. If
only D was there with me, things would have been soooooo much simpler.
Soumik is getting married ! He gave me a call 2 days ago and broke the
news. This is really amazing. When we were room mates, he used to say
he would never ever get married. I broke his resistance from never
ever to some day to in the next 2-3 yrs to now. And he is getting
married within a month now. I hope I am able to attend ayush's
wedding, so attending dada's wedding seems to be a challenge at the
moment.
